Google keeps changing the rules. It feels like every time I figure out what works, they roll out another update that kills my rankings. For those of you who still get decent organic traffic, what is your main focus right now? Are you still building backlinks, or are you focusing entirely on user engagement and content?

Content is king, but links are still the kingmakers. You can't just spam links anymore, but if you don't have quality backlinks from authority sites, you won't rank for anything competitive. My strategy is to build the best content possible and then aggressively pursue in-text links from real blogs in my niche.

Exactly. And don't forget about social signals. Google wants to see that people are actually sharing your content. If you aren't promoting your posts on Twitter or Reddit, you are missing a huge piece of the puzzle. It's not just about the initial link anymore, it's about the footprint you leave across the web.
