Because this is what they are taught here, and if you say anything different, the twits come out of the woodwork to say you are wrong.

If you aren't doing well with what you have now because you can't make them work, why will more sites not do the exact same thing and make you even angrier?

Find a niche that works. Learn about traffic other than trades. Learn about highly targeted traffic. Learn SEO. Learn about other search engines.

Mike kept bragging about his 20,000 backlinks but his sites didn't get higher PR and, in fact, if I remember right, he was sandboxed in Google for adding so many backlinks in a short period of time.

PR, backlinks, it means nothing regarding traffic. You have to get people to your website and offer them a product in a way that makes them want to whip out their credit card.

Once you learn how to get and keep traffic and get it to keep returning, THEN you can apply that formula to keep building and building.
