- Do not try to do too many things all at once. Do a bit of research, find something that interests you, pick one or two niches, and learn all you can before moving on to something else.
If blogging appeals to you, start there. If building TGP / MGP galleries or freesites appeal to you, start there. If marketing your sponsors through hubs, portals, static pages, or review sites appeals to you, start there. Pick one or two methods of marketing, learn all you can, giving them a fair chance to work, then add in something else. If one begins working too many projects at once, they will feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and they won't be able to give their full attention to a project in order to give it time to grow. In other words, avoid spreading yourself too thin.
- Learn to do things on your own. Don't expect sponsors or other webmasters to hand you the keys to the golden palace if you don't step up to the plate and show some initiative on your part. We all have different skills. Things we excel in and things we totally bomb at. Sponsors and webmasters are willing to help and understand that not everyone has the same skill set, one just has to show they are trying and you'll get the help you need.
- Ask questions. Think for yourself. Be willing to accept criticism.
